Certificate Attestation and Equivalence for Portugal

In this blog post, I will cover "How you can do your certificate Attestation and  Equivalence for Portugal?"

For doing equivalence you need to do some pre-processing tasks in Bangladesh. I will explain it broadly step by step,

Attestation

Attestation in Bangladesh

From Bangladesh, you need to attestation your certificate by following this order,

  1. Verify your certificate from your study institute (University)
  2. Attest your certificate from your education board ( School, College)
  3. Attest your certificate from Education Ministry, Dhaka, Bangladesh
  4. Attest your certificate from Foreign Ministry, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Note: Do the attestation on the back side of your original certificate and also a copy of your certificate.

Attestation from the Portuguese Embassy

Nowadays, Portuguese universities have made mandatory rules to do attestation from the Portuguese embassy in students' home country. As we do not have a Portuguese embassy yet, so we need to send our attested ( attestation from Bangladesh) certificate to the Portuguese Embassy in Delhi, India. You may consult any agency by giving them the authorization to do your legalization from the embassy.

Attestation from Bangladesh Embassy in Portugal

After coming to Portugal you have to attest your certificate again from Bangladesh Embassy in Portugal. This attestation need for doing Equivalence or Recognition.

Equivalence/Recognition

What is the difference between Equivalence and Recognition?

  • Equivalence is a process through which the foreign academic qualification is compared to a Portuguese qualification in level (Licenciado, Mestre, or Doutor), duration, and program content.

  • In the case of recognition, the foreign academic qualification is compared to a Portuguese qualification only in level (Licenciado, Mestre, or Doutor).

For, Equivalence you have to finish the above attestation steps. After that, you have to follow these orders,

  • Translate your certificate to Portuguese and also do a notary by a lawyer (For Bachelor Degree)
  • Attested by the Portuguese Foreign Ministry (For Bachelor Degree)
  • After finishing the above 2 steps, then you need to submit your certificate to your local area (junta de freguesia) school in Portugal ((For Bachelor Degree)).
  • MSc or Ph.D. you have to submit your document on this website and need to choose a university that has your subject match.

  2. Hello Bhaiya
Thank you so much for the video.

Do I need to attest on the backside of my original certificate too? or only the attestation on original attested copy from the university will work? I have done attestation from my university, foreign and education ministry on my original attested copy but didn't do on the original certificate. Should I also attest my original certificate from University, and foreign and education ministry on its back side?

    Thank you
